Kasese, Uganda / Santa Cruz
Friendship City/Sister City Delegations
In November 2011 Godfrey Kasozi, applied for Kasese Uganda to become a Sister City with the City of Santa Cruz.
Kasozi is Director of CETRUD in Kasese, Uganda. CETRUD is Centre for Environment Technology and Rural Development. After graduating from UCSC CASFS "The Farm" internship in 1999, Kasozi has been networking with many Santa Cruz area organizations for support of, and involvement with CETRUD.
We are now in a 3-year "Friendship City" trial phase to become a Sister City. Kasese sent a Friendship City delegation to Santa Cruz in June 2013. Santa Cruz is planning a Friendsjip City delegation for February 13-22, 2015. Usually a Sister City status is decided subsequent to each city sending a delegation.
The main criteria for deciding whether to commit to a Sister City relationship is to see if there is enough support from organizations in both cities to have long-term exchanges between their organizations in both cities for mutual benefit to both communities. Exchanges can be cultural, educational, economic.
